Private house in one of the Cape Verdean islands, Santo Antao.

Cape Verde is an island country formed by 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. As its remote location, building materials are limited - anything needs to be imported generate additional costs. All the buildings are proposed to use materials commonly used among local houses; concrete blocks and stones.

In the local climate, creating shade is essential. During the daytime, local residents stay shaded outside gardens or balconies to do their house work etc.. Plenty of shaded patio and balconies are proposed to enjoy this breathtaking view towards another island, Sao Vicente, all the time. The courtyard at the the back of the main hose also would help to circulate air through the building and keep comfortable temperature.
