Akita Komar Architects is an architectural design studio based in East London.

The practice was established in 2016 by Marcin Komar & Maho Akita after they graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.

Ethos

Our ethos is to work with people rather than simply for people and to share with them the wonder and joy of creating a space that is sensitive to their needs and to our environment.  

 

Our aim is to embark on a journey where the individuals’ desires and needs are discovered and where we can propose a solution or remedy that is sensitive and responsive to the needs of the client and the built environment. We very much enjoy and relish the challenge of understanding our client’s aspirations, likes, desires and constraints, learning as we go, we develop proposals and evolve them so that the final realisation reflects both personality and character of the owner.

Ambition

Our ambition is to explore the endless possibilities and challenges of  function and form, while innovating with non-standard materials or employing standard materials in novel ways. Our wish is to work on challenging concepts and projects where focus, passion and commitment are needed. 

 

We love the design journey with clients, discovering new possibilities of architecture, and utilising new techniques from various disciplines, while remaining sensitive to sustainability.  And we love to work with people who are looking not only for a bespoke design but also are brave enough to move from their comfort zone, and embrace the hidden possibilities of modern architecture. 
We like to choose interesting projects that enable us to problem solve in new ways and to express ourselves as architects while giving effect to our clients’ wishes.
